This is another bright film that included a mixture of comedic, romantic, and emotional (both good and bad) elements. Thor: Love & Thunder did not lack in the action department. The Guardians of the Galaxy had a few minutes of screen time in the beginning and I really couldn’t help but wonder why. The brief moments on screen were kind of overshadowed by Thor. It is his movie, yes, but it just made their existence in the film almost meaningless. They definitely could have been utilized a lot more.
There were many aspects that I feel were just sort of thrown together with not enough time to really take in everything else that was going on. I did, however, enjoy the background provided on Christian Bale’s Gorr and the overall performance he gave us. His story starts off like many good-guys-turned-evil, triggered by the actions and ruthlessness of another, thus, leading to his own villainous behaviors which Thor, Valkyrie, and Jane must combat.
I have to say that the effects, the comedy (although some of it is overdone), the action, and the ending made the movie overall enjoyable for me. Further, if you don’t care about a few seconds of naked butt, minor language (uhh, except the mention of orgies in one scene), and the fighting action you typically see in a Marvel film, then I’d say it’s fine for preteens and up.
